Frequently Asked Questions

Hello! Here are some good questions that I hear a lot and some stupid ones that those magazines and websites tell you, you should ask.

How many photos should you expect?

Typically I deliver between 700-1100 photos.

Will you own rights to your photos?

Yes! Technically I retain copywrite and you will have personal usage rights and will be free to print and use the photos in any non commercial way you’d like. Print them anywhere, post them anywhere, it’s all good.

Fun fact: PETA sued a photographer once on behalf of a monkey who took a selfie.

DO YOU RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PUBLISH THE PHOTOS?

I prefer to; however, this is negotiable. I respect your privacy and I will never insist on retaining any right to publish photos of you. But I hope you’ll agree that your photos are amazing enough to share!

Are your photos edited?

This is a loaded question. Some people have completely different meanings of the word edited. My editing is usually very simple (yet very time consuming). I color correct, adjust for exposure, contrast, straightening and such. What I do not do, is make people skinny using filters, make skin look like porcelain dolls and such. What comes out of my camera is generally close to the final image in most situations. Generally I treat weddings as an editorial or photojournalistic shoot. But that doesn’t mean we won’t creative during the day.

I also cull the junk. I get rid of ones with eyes closed, duplicates, blurry, out of focus, accidental shots, test shots, and just bad ones. Everything else you get.

HOW SOON AFTER OUR WEDDING WILL OUR PROOFS BE READY?

Typcially anywhere between 3 and 6 weeks. Sometimes 2, and in the very worst of cases 8. It really just depends on how busy things are that time of year. If you getting married in late October or Late June those are usually the busiest times of the year.

Will you personally shoot the wedding?

Of course. I’m not a big studio with a bunch of photographers. It’s just me and I contract some regular second shooters to shoot along side me if you choose the second shooter option.

DO YOU SOMETIMES BOOK YOURSELF FOR MORE THAN ONE WEDDING IN A DAY?

HELL NO. Who does that? Not so fun fact: I did once accidently double book a wedding date. Caught the problem a couple of days later and explained it to the second couple. Felt really bad.

DO YOU HAVE A REPLACEMENT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IN CASE YOU BECOME UNAVAILABLE ON THE DAY OF THE EVENT?

Knock on wood, but i’ve never missed a wedding day yet. But in the case that something happens I would do everything in my power to get another photographer to step in. I do know a bunch of fellow professionals in the Kentucky area that all network a bit, and we try to cover each others back. In the case, my second shooter or another pro photographer couldn’t step in. You would be fully refunded.

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU TYPICALLY BRING WITH YOU ON THE DAY-OF?

Oh man, gear is my thing. Honestly, I’ve got too much of it. My current go to is the greatest and latest Nikon Z9. It’s big, it’s heavy, it’s fast, it’s silent, it’s almost perfect for weddings. I also have Nikon Z6’s, D4S, and a D4. They all kinda have their own little niche’s throughout the day. And just for fun I occasionally break out my Leica M, but that’s more for me than it is you.

Wanna really nerd out? I own the following Nikon primes:

24mm 1.4, 35mm 1.8Z, 50 1.8Z, 58mm 1.4, 105 1.4 (this thing is special), a 150mm macro, and even a 200 f2 that I need to sell because it’s embarrassingly huge and heavy (but OMG is it good), and a 300 f4.

Zooms: 14-24mm 2.8, Two 24-70 2.8s, 70-200.

Lighting wise, I bring multiple on camera flashes and off camera profoto gear. It’s not always needed. But it always comes. Lighting is the real difference maker.

How much is the deposit - retainer?r

$500 holds your date.
